Matthew Milligan has been a professional musician since 2006, and is best known for his work with Wheatus (“Teenage Dirtbag”), Mike Doughty (formerly of Soul Coughing), MC Frontalot (Nerdcore Rising), and MC Lars (“Download This Song”).  In various roles and on multiple instruments he has performed alongside Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Dan Wilson (Semisonic), Billy Martin (Medeski Martin & Wood), Wayne Kramer (MC5), Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Marc Ribot (Tom Waits), Josh Devine & Sandy Beales (One Direction), Bowling For Soup, Corn Mo, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Jean Grae, Mega Ran, Schaffer The Darklord & more.  He is a writer / producer / founding member of NYC based groups Fashion Bird Danger Danger & Grim All Day, as well as long distance collaboration Maeges.  He hosts the “Weird Al-Gorithm” podcast on the Geekscape Network, and worked as an engineer on “Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast” from 2020 until Gilbert's passing in 2022.  He mixed the Wheatus live album M (Live in America), first released in 2020.

Notable Tours: 

Text On The Dancefloor (Sept / Oct / Nov 2006) Extensive tour across all of the USA with Wheatus headlining, featuring Brandtson, Melee, Mayday Parade & Fall of Transition as support. 

Get Happy (Feb 2007) Bowling For Soup, Son of Dork, Wheatus & Army of Freshmen.  12 dates across the United Kingdom, all sold out. 

Good To Go Tour (May 2007) Wheatus, MC Lars, Army of Freshmen & Punchline.  15 dates across the United Kingdom. 

Wheatus 10th Anniversary Tour (June 2010) Wheatus feat. special guest MC Frontalot (with whom Matthew also performed). Special tour ending performance at Donauinselfest in Vienna, Austria. 

Wheatus UK Tour (May / June 2012) Featuring support from MC Lars (with whom Matthew also performed), Math The Band & Corn Mo.  25 shows across the United Kingdom. 

Wheatus Returns to Australia (Sept 2012) Five shows around Australia, including Fat As Butter festival in Newcastle w/ Good Charlotte.  Also included a special performance on “Sunrise,” the most popular morning show in Australia. 

Wheatus 15th Anniversary Tour (Sept / Oct 2015) Wheatus feat. special guest Mike Doughty (with whom Matthew also performed). Full European tour including shows in Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.  Concluded with a performance at Isle of Wight Festival. 

Pigs Can Fly (May / June 2016) Busted reunion tour featuring special guests Wheatus & Emma Blackery. 18 arena shows across the UK & Ireland, including 2 nights at the O2 Arena in London, SSE Hydro in Glasgow, and a sold out tour opening show at the legendary Wembley Arena. 

The Heart Watches While The Brain Burns (Jan / Feb / March 2017) Mike Doughty headline tour featuring support from Wheatus.  50 shows across the USA and Canada.  Matthew played with both acts; bass with Wheatus & keyboards with Mike Doughty. 

A / Wheatus / InMe (November 2018) Triple bill across the United Kingdom, followed by a week of Wheatus headline dates in Ireland. 

Ruby Vroom 25th Anniversary Tour (Feb / March 2019) Mike Doughty performing his first band Soul Coughing’s debut album “Ruby Vroom” from start to finish each night.  Matthew played keys & sampler.  Wheatus joined as support, where Matthew played bass. 

Wheatus European Tour (April / May / June 2019) 35 date European & UK tour featuring Wheatus headlining, with support from Frank Hamilton & Gabrielle Sterbenz. 

Des Rocs tour (September 2019) Des Rocs played a short run of shows in Northeastern USA & Canada opening for The Struts.  Matthew joined them as a stage tech, his only tour to date not working as a performer. 

Ruby Vroom 25th Anniversary Tour (Oct / Nov 2019) Following a wildly successful first run, Mike Doughty’s second leg of Ruby Vroom shows saw Matthew return on keys / sampler.  Opening act for this run was The Ghost of Mr. Oberon, with Matthew as piano accompanist to vocalist Rachel Murdy. 

Summerland 2021 (July / Sept / Oct 2021) Everclear, Hoobastank, Living Colour & Wheatus.  Two legs of touring across the USA. 

Ghost of Vroom L.A. & NYC Residency (Jan / Feb / Nov 2022) Mike Doughty fronted performances featuring entirely improvised shows with a rotating line-up of guest musicians.  Matthew played in the “house band” every week, alternating between bass & keyboards, alongside Andrew “Scrap” Livingston and Madden Klass.  Weekly special guests included Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Dan Wilson (Semisonic), Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Billy Martin (Medeski Martin & Wood), Marc Ribot (Tom Waits), Jamie Saft (John Zorn), Danny Frankel (Lou Reed), David Levita (Alanis Morissette), Mike Wilbur (Moon Hooch) and more.   

Wheatus & MC Frontalot (Sept / Oct / Nov 2023) A massive 47 date tour of the UK and Ireland.  Of the 47 shows, 40 were  sold out, upgraded to a larger room to meet demand, or both.  Matthew also performed on bass with MC Frontalot as part of the opening act.

Pandemonium Rocks (April 2024) Traveling festival across Australia, where Wheatus shared a line-up with Alice Cooper, Blondie, The Psychedelic Furs, Wolfmother & more.

Bowling For Soup / Wheatus (Sept 2024 / Feb 2025) Two legs of touring across the USA and UK with Wheatus supporting Bowling For Soup on their 20th anniversary of ‘A Hangover You Don’t Deserve' tour.  Mostly sold out clubs, theaters & arenas.  Matthew played with both acts, joining Bowling For Soup on keyboards for a portion of their show.
